Your data is worth more than you think
A single photo or message seems harmless. Together, the pieces tell a story someone else can use.
Think about what lives on your phone: where you go, who you talk to, what you buy, what you search for at 2 a.m., what your kids look like. None of it feels like a big deal on its own. Put it together and it describes your life.
Small facts add up
Companies and attackers do not need your secrets. They need patterns. Patterns predict what you will buy, who you will vote for, how likely you are to fall for a scam, and when your house is empty. That prediction is what makes data valuable.
Tap a kind of data below to see what it can quietly reveal.
What can it reveal?
Home and work addresses, your daily routine, when the house is empty, which clinic or church you visit, who you spend time with.
Your budget, hobbies, health needs, and life events like a new baby or a move. Receipts are a diary.
Your closest circle, business contacts, and how your relationships change over time, even without reading a word.
Faces, places, dates and documents in the background. A photo of a kid at a school gate shows a lot.
Worries, health questions, money trouble, secrets. People ask search boxes what they would never ask out loud.
Why that is power
- Persuasion. Knowing what moves you means ads, news and offers can be tuned to you.
- Pricing and access. Profiles can influence what you are shown and what you are offered.
- Leverage. Private details are useful to anyone who wants to pressure, impersonate or defraud you.
- Permanence. You can change a password. You cannot change your past locations or your childhood photos.
What you can do
- Share less by default, especially with services you do not pay for.
- Prefer tools where your content is encrypted so the company holding it cannot read it.
- Delete what you no longer need. Data that does not exist cannot leak.
